Only thing is that it's not really a "Spill," it's a "Leak." And it's one that is nearly a mile down, kinda scary if you think about it...

uh... I posted about the Ixtoc Oil Spill of 1980 and how that damaged the environment around South Padre Island and the the oil company responsible never paid a dime to the State of Texas nor to Federal government. AND, that was one of the largest oil spills in history - usually ranking 2nd but it has been moved to 3rd recently - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Largest...est_oil_spills.

The Deep Water Horizon spill that is ongoing in the Gulf is now the 16th largest spill in history.

JD, just because you can't get your facts correct doesn't mean that this isn't an oil spill. And just because you can't quite grasp the reality of the problem, nor place it within the geologic history of the earth doesn't mean sea turtles are not suffering.

It is petroleum. Petroleum is made up of the hydrocarbon remains of living tissues that are now dead and have undergone a polymerization process. That's the point you were struggling with earlier. You thought petroleum came from an oil company and was NOT a naturally occurring toxin.

I never thought that the oil came from the oil company. Never said that.


This is the worst oil spill in American history.


Next time, I will clarify what I meant as the burden of communication is on me.



As for the other stuff you posted, I simply refer to the post that affirmed that scientists call oil spills toxic for the environment and what scientitsts say that oil contains.

If you like, I can break out my chemistry book again for you to get your facts straight....
