Re: Sen. Edward Kennedy dies

I can't help but think of all the random people who have died today either in hospital beds or on the highway or on the job, who have done FAR more good for this country then Kennedy ever did.......

....yet will not get the days of televised funeral and memorial services that Teddy will receive.

Mary Jo Kopechne would of been 69 years old by now.

Re: Sen. Edward Kennedy dies

It's sad someone dies. I will not though mourn the loss of his actions and political positions. I find little to celebrate of his life. Being a Senator means nothing it's what you do with the position. So what idiots elected him so many years as he got paid nicely and had political power.... Wow what a service of selflessness of giving he did of stroking his ego and his families.

Re: Sen. Edward Kennedy dies

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kennedy family but truly this is not a man to praise. He was despicable from his cheating days in law school, through leaving the scene of an accident he caused that resulted in the death of a young woman, and on through his many other scandals and misbehaviour.

I found it ironic that in the last few days he tried to get Mass. to change the succession law so that when he died the Governor could immediately appoint a successor, rather than a special election being held, to help the Democrats with the healthcare vote. This was the same law he championed five years ago when a Republican was Governor of Mass. and Kennedy wanted to make sure that a Republican Governor could NOT appoint a Senatorial successor. Duplicitous to the very end.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Not ironic at all, CCRyder...it's simply following the 'party line'.

Change any rule, attempt to change any law, vote for any junkyard dog as long as we don't cross the 'party line'.

Bob Schieffer on CBS this morning said that Chappiquiddick was the thing that hung over TK's head, and kept him from the presidency.

But he also said that TK was a flawed man who went on to do some good things. I'm sure the commentators and those doing the research will find the things to which Mr. Schieffer referred.

As you said, at the moment our prayers are with the family...this is the 2nd family death in as many weeks.
