Used car salesman in the whitehouse
Feds moving the cash-for-clunkers goalposts
Quote:
Rosslyn Smith
Many people who thought they were eligible to benefit from "Cash for Clunkers" rebate and made a deal for a new car out this week found that they are not. It seems that just before the program was to go into effect on July 24 the EPA changed its fuel efficiency ratings on many models. According to CNN Money:
...as part of the official launch, the EPA conducted "quality assurance and quality control effort regarding fuel economy calculations on more than 30,000 vehicle model types spanning the past 25 years," according to an e-mail sent by EPA spokesman Dale Kemery.
As a result, eligibility for roughly 100 vehicles was affected, Kemery wrote. However, roughly equal numbers became newly eligible and newly ineligible.

We have Christian brothers that sell cars.so they swap cars and find the Government moved the goalposts and changed the terms.
I posted that the cars sold before bankruptcy by Chrysler would have their warranties voided and they did and now this.
Makes ya wonder of you buy a car if the title is good to the dealer.
Try to avoid doing business with the government these days.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Congressional officials say the government plans to suspend the popular "cash for clunkers" program amid concerns it could quickly use up the $1 billion in rebates for new car purchases.
The Transportation Department called congressional offices late Thursday to alert them to the decision to halt the program, which offered owners of old cars and trucks $3,500 or $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle.
Snake oil salesmen. We have an unstable government. Just waite and they text message your doc in the middle of surgery and tell him NO deal.

Another, oops we fail to count the cost and consider this in full. We are just full speed ahead without counting the cost. AGAIN!

Actually it had a primary and secondary agenda.
After obama's chrysler siezure debacle, he is desparate for car sales.
The primary agenda is get old cars off the road and shred the polluters. People don't want to buy light weight hybrids and he wants "back to school specials' off the road.
On paper it looks better getting a car as opposed to giving cash for cars based on EPA ratings.

Cancelled after only ONE week!
Doesn't it make you feel secure you have people running the government with such foresight?

But dealers raised concerns of large backlogs in the system, prompting the suspension.

So if we can't get surgery because of "backlogs" in the cube farm of hundreds that micromanage America?

Re: Used car salesman in the whitehouse
Update: Looks like I might be getting that ‘Vette after all: “Although key members of Congress were notified by the Secretary of Transportation Thursday that the program would run out of money at midnight, sources said ‘Administration and Congressional officials are working to keep it up and running.’”
"God is NOT the author of CONFUSION."
Devil is now involved with car dealers.
They are now trying to keep it till fall like they said.
This cartel is dishonest.
We want to buy health insurance from these crooks? Why?

At this point, honesty no longer has anything to do with it. It’s not HARD to follow 135 pages of hastily-drafted regulation; it is IMPOSSIBLE.

From a car dealer that apparently wasn't shut down.
And we have problems with a 1 page birth certificate.

Re: Used car salesman in the whitehouse
The federal government has only reimbursed auto dealers for 2 percent of the claims they've submitted through the popular "cash for clunkers" program, a Pennsylvania congressman said, calling on the Obama administration to help speed up the process.
Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., called for "immediate action" to address the problem in a statement Sunday, after writing a letter to President Obama Saturday expressing his concerns.
In the letter, Sestak said only 2 percent of claims have been paid and that four of every five applications have been "rejected for minor oversight."
134 pages of instructions. And we want them to run federal medicine?
