Obama is told no
Memo: No health vote before recess UPDATE
Democratic leaders have apparently thrown in the towel -- telling their Republican counterparts that there will be no health care vote on the House floor before the August recess starts this Friday, according a Republican memo obtained by POLITICO.
The memo:
From: Cavicke, David
Sent: Tuesday, July 28, 2009 4:51 PM
To: REDACTED
Subject: Schedule
Democratic Leadership has told Mr. Boehner’s staff that there will be no vote on Health on the Floor before recess and we will leave Friday.
We still have no confirmation of plans to resume or end the Committee Markup.
David L. Cavicke
Republican Chief of Staff
Committee on Energy and Commerce
UPDATE: GOP and Democratic leadership sources
We do not need a Chicago touch on our healthcare.
To some extent, his scariest of all scary abortion items caused a lot of dems to withdraw support.

Good for the Repubs. Sounds like they are getting their bearings back.

Re: Obama is told no
do you think maybe after most folks, mainly Republicans, leave, then a skeleton crew of Democrats who remain behind, might vote on and pass (by a majority of those who are there) some kind of health bill?

Sounds similar to the circumstances under which the Federal Reserve Act was passed.
In the dark of night on Christmas eve while everyone was home.

Now don't get me wrong. I am for the health plan at many levels. I believe in the pre trib rapture and they can take any and all of 7 years to make everything ok, healthy and hunky dorry.
Please wait till then to get the wrinkles out of it.

Isn't the reason that BHO is trying to push it through so fast is so that they won't read it and have some idea of what they are pushing off on us?

There is urgency. It will save all these jobs and 46 million people are not covered. Save the children.
By the way, the liberals for the most part are H.S. school drop outs and reading takes time. Fat cat lobbyists also need reimbursement

The breakdown of the 46 million is instructive, includes 20-35 years old that don't want to pay for overage, many poor that are already covered by Medicare and then many illegals. Which actually leaves only about 12 million uncovered, these of course can go to any emergence room for immediate care. So the urgency is politically generated. At least this is what I have read.
