I remember reading somewhere that the city was destroyed by a earthquake.
I'll have to try and track down the info.

You are going to have to stop reading "The National Examiner" while in line at the grocery store or you are also going to beleive that we have captured the devil and he is in prison. Or that aliens met with President Clinton (I saw the photo!) when he was Prez.

And who gives a rip whether it was destroyed by an earthquake or not???? That has absolutely nothing to do with the theme of this thread.

You see these folks were warned, the earthquake could have been judgement ,ok if God sends us a word of judgement and we don't heed then judgement or ruin is sure to follow.

Never mind.

Reminder to self: Next time you want to start a serious thread, DON'T.

Usually it is taught that the Book of Revelation was written in the last decade of the first century (A.D. 94-96) near the end of Emperor Domitian's reign (A.D. 81-96). Some say this is impossible because Laodicea was destroyed by an earthquake before this and place the timing of its writing during Nero's reign (A.D. 54-68) so it can tie in with the preterist view that the end of the age and the second coming of Jesus happened in A.D. 70. That may be the reason for mentioning the earthquake.

Paul probably wrote the books we call Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon while he was a prisoner in Rome (allowed to live in a rented house) during the period of AD 60 and 61 (Acts 28:16-31)
