Hemp Anyone?

Industrial Hemp is something that this nation should pursue vigorously.

Hemp can make clothing like cotton can but requires far fewer chemicals to produce... often none.

Hemp can be used to make fuel for vehicles and it isn't a food item.

Hemp is a highly nutritious food item that can be made into a protein powder (50% protein... no other food can do that), Hemp oil, Hemp seed, Hemp cheese and the list goes on.

Hemp is used in making lotions etc.

Hemp can be used to make building materials that are stronger yet at 1/6 the weight of concrete etc. It can be used to make a stucco as well.

Industrial Hemp is certified THC free.

This is definitely the short list for the uses of Hemp.

Re: Hemp Anyone?

Why is carpet backing with hemp not used anymore?

Carpets aren't as durable as they use to be and they say it's because they can't use hemp anymore.

Yes... due to the amazing ignorance of government growing Industrial Hemp is illegal in these United States (although there have been small successes in some states)

Industrial Hemp is a far superior product to anything we are raising today for the same uses (ie cotton etc)

Allowing Industrial Hemp to be grown would actually reduce the potency of any marijuana grown in the area because of cross pollination of the species.

There are vast differences between the plants also.

You can grown about 4 marijuana plants in a 3' x 3' spot.

You grow hundreds of Industrial hemp plants in the same space.

A farmer can have 4x the productivity off the same piece of land versus growing cotton.

Industrial Hemp legalized in this country would be a great boon for our farmers.

Re: Hemp Anyone?

Most likely one of the reasons it is not grown here.

It's never been grown here, but carpet use to have hemp.

Maybe there was something passed that doesn't allow them to import carpet with hemp anymore.

That could be true. I don't know.I remember my Dad had a hemp rope when I was young and he had to through it out because it was no longer legal.

As I understand it.... it is not illegal to import hemp products. You can even import hemp seed (a food product) but it has to be, in some way, made to where it is no longer a viable seed for growth.]

Hempusa.org sells hemp seed, hemp oil, hemp soft centers etc....

The hemp is grown in Canada and then legally imported to the United States
