Ignorance is bliss!!!!

I did not know, until I got on this forum, about "standards". Ive had quite the education!!!!!!!!!!!!! (For those who dont know, I lead praise and worship at a UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, was raised SOUTHERN BAPTIST and I attend a CHARISMATIC church... so im quite schizo when it comes to churches). I guess I just want to know, who set the standards....who makes the final decision on how long or short hair should be, etc. Ive seen pictures of the Asuza Street revival and many men there had beards. I cant get my head around all this "standards" requirements coming from just a few scriptures. It seems that there are more pressing matters.
Oh well, someone fill me in!

Blessings!

Re: Ignorance is bliss!!!!

Steve, the bigger question is why they call them standards when there is such a broad range of them - nothing standard about them.

I bet five Pastors, that were all brothers, that went to the same bible college and started five churches in the same city .......would not agree on standards.

Re: Ignorance is bliss!!!!

I was apart of the United Pentecostal Church for 17 years.

Three basic standards...

So called, Bible [mis-interpreted] standards

"The UPCI Manual" standards [man made]

House rules [ what ever the pastor makes up ]
