This verse has been with me most of the afternoon...
Ps 119:130
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
KJV
This psalm is unique in that almost every verse speaks of the Word of God (as in commandments, precepts, law, statutes).
Psalm 119:130 is such a wonderful verse because it shows us the power and might of the Word...
When it enters the heart of man, it changes darkness to light. Those things that used to trip us up don't trip us up anymore because the light of the Word has been turned on in our soul. Those things are not
removed when the light comes on...they are just exposed. We see them for what they are.
If individuals can come to the Lord and yet be living the same way as before, with no conviction or thought of living right...if the preaching of the Holy Bible doesn't move them to repentance...if they are not provoked to make a change, it is evidence that the Word has not penetrated their soul.
The Amplified reads,
"The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple."
When the Word of God enters our soul and the beauty of it is unfolded to us, it will bring discernment and comprehension. We won't need to be a Bible scholar to get its meaning, for even the simple will understand "thus saith the Lord."
Just some thoughts this evening...
