Mice Exterminating

My wife saw a mouse in the bathroom this morning & seeing as we have at least one mouse we would like to get rid of it.

Have you ever had this problem?

What do you recommend?

Poison is good, but they usually crawl into a wall die there and your house stinks
for a few months.

Are glue traps good?

How about the good old mouse trap?

I would use a shotgun, but I would probably be taken down by the Vancouver SWAT team.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

D-Con works without the smell. It dries the mice up from the inside out. I've had to use it before.

Nope. Had a whole colony of them pesky mice living in the ductwork of this house I rented once. After months of foolin with traps and whatnot, I gave D-Con a try. Wiped 'em out in no time and didn't smell a thing. I did find them dead in several places of the house though.

Unless you are planning on eating it, yes. The way you know it's starting to work is that you will see green mouse poop. It's only a matter of time then.

Rats & Mice are nasty critters when they get into a house, aside from the mess they make, I won't even mention the heart attack they almost make you have when you meet one unexpectedly in the middle of the night.

Nope, they belong in the great outdoors as part of the food chain for Owls, Eagles, Foxes, etc.

Don't possums hate dogs?

I don't know... I have a poodle mix in the house and a mutt out in the back yard, but she is on a chain. If possums are scared... they weren't scared of my dogs.

I have had my fill of wild creatures... I had a racoon get on my roof, it nearly ruined the roof trying to dig into the attic area. I was scared of those possums and rats in the basement...and as much as I don't like to think about it.... God only knows what came in the house while sleeping... ugg... anyway... some people came to weatherize my house and about freaked at my basement zoo... one guy refused to go back to the basement cause a possum hissed at him.

Anyway, they killed the possums.. patched up all places for animals to get in...capped the chimney... weatherized my house. I put that poison all over the basement and I have been pest free. thank you Jesus.

It actually is a decent house and has tons of updates including a new kitchen w/cathedral ceiling... however, I was told just the other day by a lead assessor (my house is being worked on again) that it was built in 1900... I thought the turn of the century but wasn't sure.

I hate old houses, but the longer I live here, the more I get attached.
