Where Was Lazarus For 4 Days?

I was thinking this past weekend where Lazarus for 4 days during the time in which his disease claimed his life & the time in which Jesus raised him from
the dead.

Was his soul asleep in the body?
Was hi soul in Abraham's bosom?

Anyone want to take a shot?

I have heard it taught that the Jews believe a person's spirit hangs near their body for four days. Some believe that is why Jesus didn't delay any longer.

I don't if that is true or not. I have however, heard of folks at the bedside of a loved one departing seeing Jesus as they left and others say some were screeming their feet were on fire????

It is probably something we will never know for sure.

In the Biblical record the telling thing is NOBODY ever thought to "take a shot". No one ever even asked any such question. [Even more noteworthy is that Lazarus had nothing to say about the time that he was dead!]

And the exact same thing could be said of of EVERY person who was raised from the dead in scripture. Humm!

It would appear that those who lived with these people knew something that we don't. Perhaps they were not lacking in understanding or were not under a false presupposition that would led them to ask such a question.

Re: Where Was Lazarus For 4 Days?

Yeshua simply told the Apostles "Lazarus is dead". Thats it. He was not in Heaven or Abrahams Bosom.
He was in the Cave that Yeshua called him out of.

Had he been in Heaven it would not have been doing him a favor to send him back to Earth. And how true that there was no testimony time where Lazarus told everyone all the things he saw.

It is another proof that the dead do not live again until the resurrection.

Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
Mat 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Could you elaborate on that last statement?

Yes it tells us exactly where they went. To Heaven? No. They went into the holy city. After performing this servive in the will of God they went back to sleep. How do we know this?

14: That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16: Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 1 Tim. 6:14-16

Paul was an Apostle. He knew the truth. He said ONLY JESUS CHRIST is immortal. If these who rose after his resurrection were still living THEY WOULD BE IMMORTAL.

Let us treat the word ONLY just like we treat it when we are talking about God being the ONLY God. When we understand the meaning of ONLY we will understand the doctrine of the resurrection.

There are no immortals at present EXCEPT JESUS.

Pastor said they go to a particular place in the heavenlies, the good to be with the Lord, the others await the judgement.
