Will Obama's Pastor Be His Down Fall?
I know there is a similar thread regarding Obama's pastor-
But this Jeremiah Wright is in a league all his own!
Do you think Obama is telling the truth when, for much of the rhetoric Wright said--especially the TV coverage-Obama wasn't even there?
Do you think people will retract their support of Obama when they discover who and what his pastor believes?
Or does his Pastor have nothing to do with what Obama believes and his political aspirations?

Not likely. He is too charismatic and people friendly for people to latch this onto him. I don't.

I don't think it will make much of a difference, to be honest with you. The man isn't even his pastor any more. He retired.

Re: Will Obama's Pastor Be His Down Fall?
Wright retired a few months ago. He was Obama's pastor for over 20 years. He married them, baptized their girls, and preached to him twice a week for all that time. If you read the church web site, you'll see what he's been preaching all this time. If you don't agree with what a preacher believes, you generally won't be that close for 20 years. The fact he retired doesn't change his beliefs for two decades. If a white church preached what they preach, they would be crucified. Obama's two books and his wife's college thesis shows that they agree mostly with Wright.

I agree!
Like I said on the other thread, like my husband said last night--now we know where Denise Obama's remark "this is the first time I felt proud of my country" came from-
It's laughable to me for Obama to act like he was unaware of his Pastors remarks, we all know what our Pastor's believe and what they say ect. Pastors often repeat whats on their hearts many times, it would be a rare event if my pastor acted out of character just when I happened NOT to be there.

To be honest with I believe that Obama's pastor has hurt his campaign.I think the only way that his campaign can be saved is if he cuts ties with him.

Re: Will Obama's Pastor Be His Down Fall?
This is a story that could really stick to Obama for a while .
In the months leading up to the election, the Republicans, talk radio, the conservative blogs, etc, will make sure America is reminded of Rev Jeremiah Wright and his words. This could come back to haunt Obama.

I have heard on Christian radio and have seen it on web sites that the Republicans have videos of Wright speaking, transcripts of sermons, and God knows what else just waiting for Obama to get the nomination. It won't be pretty. It probably won't change many black's minds but many get a reaction from whites who support him. The key may be how many of the young kids the Republicans can get to listen.

And so it should. As this was his spiritual leader.

Jeanie,
People will believe what they want to believe regardless of what the truth is.
If he is as bad as people say, if people like him-they will believe him.
If he is as good as he is being potrayed, if people don't like him-they will disdain him.
As for me, there isn't a politician I trust.
