2008 = 4358

Re: Latest UPC Growth Numbers (Declining)

The fact that they have 22 less churches doesn't neccessarily mean the total membership has declined over that 2 year period.

What we'd need to see is their total membership numbers, not the number of churches.

Does the UPC have such membership numbers?

I think these numbers are significant, however.

It seems to show the UPC is stagnating currently.

The most shocking stat on the UPC to me is the age demographic of licensed ministers. The vast majority are over 40 and a significant portion (I forget what percentage) are over 50 and 60.

I wonder if this holds true for clergy of all denominations in America?

I was in a Catholic church four or five years ago and the priest made pretty much the same observation regarding the average age of priests in the US being in their 50's or something like that.

YA RIGHT
Why are you mocking them? What's wrong with setting ambitious goals for the Kingdom, and working toward them ?

Stagnating?
Keep in mind many groups and churches have broken off from the UPCI over the years, but still remain Apostolic. So as long as they remain in the Kingdom of God, and He is glorified, the statistics of an individual denomination are not that important.

Agreed. Lets think about what organizations have developed as a result of braking off from the UPCI, then groups that have subsequently broken off from them, still remaining apostolic. A group's acronym hanging above a church sign is not a true picture of it relevance or impact.

What gets me is the not only is he mocking them, but he's a licensed minister with them.
