Frances Munsey
Sister Frances was a special woman of God . She lived
a focused life ...She made a lasting impression on me
as a teenager...
She had just returned from Japan. She was living in the
upstairs apartment across from the church on Kennedy avenue.
I remember her telling me "this is my Japan room", which
she had thoughtfully decorated with some Asian screens and
some bamboo mats . She told me "this is where I pray for
Japan".
The room was quite cold , as late autumn - surrendering to the grip of another long
winter in northern Indiana...
I asked her about the chilly temperature . She said " the cold doesn’t bother me
it helps me get into the spirit of intercession. It reminds me of the millions
shivering in spiritual darkness------in the land of the Rising Sun"
As I stood at her bedside, a few days ago , I told our Lord, how
grateful I am for every tear she allowed to fall on the precious
seed of the gospel she had planted .
I will see her again in the radiant presence of the Lord
of the Harvest.....
We will rejoice together. She will doubtless stand before him
bearing the sheaves gathered to present to Him.
Thank you , Sister Frances, for spending your life in the field, while so many others
languished at the table.
--Mark A. Grisham
Thanks to Brother Mark for such precious words about such a precious soul.

Re: Frances Munsey
I just received an email from Sis. Munsey concerning Frances' passing.
I have some pictures, and many fond memories of good times we had together when we were younger. Never forget getting lost at midnight in Chicago on Sunday night. I always admired her love for God and dedication. She worked unselfishly for the one she loved.

Re: Frances Munsey
It was the HOT summer of 1956
when I
took the Train to Tulsa Oklahoma in order to transport
Sis Francis & Kenny {her brother} to the Chicago area
to help in the Evangelistic Temple United Pentecostal
Church Of Hammond Indiana Incorporated that was
pastored by her brother {Frank Mathias Munsey}..
Before I left
I asked Sis Ruth just how would I reconize Sis Francis
She told me to take a real good look at Frank
Then Visualize Him With Long Blond Hair -
{ and she wuz right !}
I arrived in Tulsa
and was picked up by Pop Munsey in his Brand New Caddy.
We went to the Munsey Home and We carefully loaded
Francis' 1955 Chevy, leaving room for her in the back seat
and room in the front seat for Kenny to ride shotgun -I
t was one of my normal exciting trips
and
one that Sis Francis never forgot.
Being an assistant in a Home Missions Church
I naturally counted pennies in order to save on expnses
- such as buying off brand gasolene, bulk oil, sleeping
in the car and eating at the Cheeeeeepest Places -
As we neared St Louis
I began to discuss with them the dire state of our finances
and asked both for their input or suggestions in order to
conserve and curb oue spending.
Francis suggested Fasting
and Kenny suggested putting the Car in Neutral whenever possible
and then, as we got to the St Louis City Limits,
I droped the BOMB SHELL !
" All Of The Bridges Going Out Of St Louis Were Toll Bridges "
So
We Would Have To Do
What Any Red Blooded American Would Do In Our Situation !
We Stopped
and rearranged the interior of that Powder Blue '55 Chevy.
We then got Sis Francis to lay down on the back seat
and
covered her completly with Two Woolen Blankets !
{The +100 dregree heat created No Problem to us}
Then
We Proceeded slowly thru the City Of St Lousi
and
finally arriveing at the Chain-of-Rocks Toll Bridge
over One Hour Later !
We Paid the Toll,
Crossed that Bridge into Illinois,
When We Stopped in Granite City for some Cheep Gasoline'
I faintly heard Sis Francis ask
"Is It Safe To Come Out Now?"
A Bedazzeled, Hot, Dripping Wet, Future Missionary
'Sister Francis Munsey'
emerged from under those Wool Blankets and asked
" How Much Money Did We Save?"
I handed Her An Ice Cold Coca Cola
and answered
"We Saved Enough
To Pay For Your
10 Cent Coke "!
AHhhhhhhh MEMORIES -
