Could that mentality be some of the problem with many of our church's. Many of our churchs are just handed over to Son's of great men and the Son's have no right pastoring the church except they have the last name. THis is why we get the label a cult in many circles because it is always left in the family. I wonder if God had had other plans. THat is a stupid remark if it indeed was said at BOTT.
Let me say that there are great men who are leading churchs that are sons of the original pastor. My Pastor is one of them.

Now THAT is funny. Every other daddy said that about HIS son to whom he left the church...in every case.
But, I guess it is unreasonable to allow the Holy Ghost dictate who it is that will be the overseer of the flock as was done in Acts which Paul so aptly noted. "Take heed to yourself to feed the flock of God over whch the Holy Ghost hath made you the overseer...."
It is unreasonable since daddy invested so much of his precious time, strength and energy building it up over the many years then to just let the Holy Ghost determine who will become the next pastor. Besides, it is hard to see Junior have to pick up his lunch bucket and ACTUALLY have to go and find a JOB...YIKES!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!! NO WAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!
It's hard to relinguish a good business to the HOLY GHOST!
Forgive me for my little sarcasm. I can't say I can blame it on the devil, but maybe a little flesh.

Just for clarification, I know Scooter and his son is not a pastor, his son is in grade-school. He was referring to his own pastor, who as I understand, left a high paying job with a international company taking a pay-cut in the process, when he was voted in as assistant pastor at his fathers church.
I heard about a preacher who took his infant son to church soon after birth and introduced him as the next pastor of the church.
That is perverted.

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves
Why don't we reserve judgement on something that has yet to be confirmed and the context is also missing, until we have the full picture.
You can take any words, from anywhere or anyone... out of the Good Bible itself... and really mess around if you don't know the context and spirit behind it.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
I would rather know the context of the statement and why it was said before I comment.

YOu are both so correct.
As ministers, shouldn't we know the value of CONTEXT. You should never take anything out of context...you loose the original intent of the author. Let's listen to the context, then pass judgement!
This stuff gets really old.
