Well, things are just about normal. Discussion and debating takes precedence over prayer.

1Accord, just because there haven't been that many responses doesn't mean people are unaware of the needs and aren't praying.

Ouch. Painful, but true, OneAccord...........

You've proven that you're more spiritual than all of us heathens.

No, no, not more spiritual... just a little convicted, I guess. I've just been reading the different threads and seeing how we are divided over so many things. Theres so much for us to be doing for God's Kingdom... so much I need, and should, be doing. It just seems we are trying to move into a new house, but can't because we can't decide among ourselves where to put our stuff. I was thinking about the leaders who came together to form the UPCI. Brothers Goss, Whiterspoon and the others. It is incredible that they were able to come together to form 1 organization out of 2 when theyre were different views. But, they did it.

I wonder what will have to happen to bring us together? Or, do we even want that, though the Bible clearly tells us "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bonds of peace"? I guess I'm just thinking out loud, but it seems that we are drifting further and further apart. And I find that sad.

I'm sure they are, Sister. I haven't responded to the request either, but am certainly praying. I was just looking through the eyes of an "outsider", perhaps a visitor or a "newbie", and was wondering what they would think. I know, I know...its appearances. But when there are on average 870 views on a thread about somebody leaving... while prayer request seem to go virtually unoticed... I just can't help but wonder what people would think.

You are absolutely correct, One. It's something that has bothered me for years, especially when I pastored. We'd have 300 people at the church picnic, and sometimes only 3 at prayer meeting.

I heard this saying, not sure where it originated; "You can tell how much people love their church by how many attend Sunday morning service, you can tell how much people love their pastor by how many attend Sunday evening, and you can tell how many love God by how many attend prayer meeting".

I'm not saying that I agree with this statement entirely, but there is some merit there.

This is true, I don't always respond to the prayer request because it feels like "look at me, I said I'm praying" but I always make sure and view the requests and say a prayer.

My pastor also says, "don't tell me how you want to be used of God and to be able to minister, if you won't show up for our outreach efforts".

1A, you are right. i do try to read every request and pray for them all every day. even on days when i dont post.

i post a reply sometimes but not always. but the point is well taken. we do look at the other stuff and the prayer seems to be secondary.

Well the church was never meant to be such a political animal anyways.
