Character In Prime Time TV Drama May Be Baptized in Jesus Name

I was in service in Austin, Texas at Kenneth Phillips Promiseland church last Wednesday night.

KP has been approached by the producers of a prime time National network television drama that is filmed in the Austin area.

At first they spoke to him about playing the part of a preacher who baptizes one of the main characters in a river after they become a Christian.

When they came to the church to discuss it with him further they asked him if they could see the church batpistry.

While they were standing in the baptistry one of the production people that is Jewish exclaimed that he was feeling something he had never felt before.

Then as they looked out from the baptistry out to the sanctuary two of them looked at each other and said "are you thinking what I am thinking"? The other one said "yeah!" We could film the bapismal scene here but actually film a service and the character coming to the altar, etc.

KP said he told them he would play the preacher in the scene but only if he could do it his way and as you can imagine his way is going to be baptizing in the name of Jesus.

Like all things in Hollywood this is not a done deal. It might never happen or change drastically in editing even if it does.

However I think it is very intersting that there is even the possibility of a water baptism in the name of Jesus being featured as a scene in a prime time network drama.

I am sorry, but I have a little bit, no a lot of a problem with a real minister playing in a fictional story of a person coming to the alter, and then being baptized. It just feels wrong to me.

Yep... no really good feelings here either...

And I generally don't have a bad feeling about such things.

Something just don't feel right about it.

Using this line of thought . . . what about dramas or plays in church? They're usually a fictional story, sometimes they include the story of a person coming to salvation.

Apparently it is ok to act in a church play but not on TV.

Hope that it dont happen. If a character on TV is a Christian he will without doubt be a hypocrite from top to bottom. Ever seen the "Christian" adulterous on the Reba show?

And if they show baptism in Jesus name Im sure satan will make the person as vile as possible.
