Re: The UPCI Ordains Women Pastors?
For cultural reasons, I find this entire issue quite interesting.
My research is limited to California and to the Pacific Northwest, and this limits my perspective.
If there was resistance to women in ministry, I have not come across it yet.
From prior to Azusa to WW2, women in ministry on the west coast were quite common. If there was public resistance to women in ministry, I have not come across it.
This begs the question, is resistance to women in ministry regional ? Or was widespread female ministers in California the exception to the rule ?
Did the PCI ordain women ? The PAW ? I would have to review my data, but I think I can demonstrate that the UPC ordained women form 1945 on.
My focus is cultural, or sociological, not theological.
