Church camp registration forms

Attended church camp through out my youth.....10+ years. 50s and early 60s.
Generally fairly rustic. There were rules but it was not closely monitored.

No serious infractions I'm aware of.

Obviously for a true youth/teen week we need parental permission. We need to know about allergies, health problems, bed wetting .....
(( in addition to church camp I was privileged to attend a secular camp....swimming, horses, cool crafts, all on a lake in the north
but, I was a total introvert and scared of my shadow. In any event I woke
up needing to pee; it's middle of the night, I'm 8yrs old, and did not get
up.......therefore ____I wet the bed....verry embarrassing ))

But I digress____

So, yes for children we need to have a complete registration form on file!!


BUT....does this apply to adults?? Was made aware of a district that has a stringent policy for adults.

As in pastor's permission. Detailed background on your salvation. Promise that you will attend every service etc

Is this the NEW norm for UPC adult camps in the USA?

Seems a bit much, but I can see why they wouldn't want to just open the floodgates. I wonder what other denominations do.

I understand the "holiness" premise but to dictate to the nnth degree with adults seems beyond the norm.

Are visitors turned away at the door?

Whatever happened to camp meetings, where everybody, saved, sanctified, or lost were invited?

Did the 12 hand out registration forms for the sermon on the mount?

I'm thinking these would only be appropriate for those actually staying in dorms or something.

It's not normal for where I'm located. They have an "Young at Heart" camp that lasts 4ish days. Ages 50+. While you do need to register it's only to make sure you get a room/bed. No in depth info is asked of them that I know of.

They are also gonna have a "Hyphen" camp this year. (18-28 single) You pay your registration the first day and again they don't ask anything non-allergy or medically relevant. This one I think is only 2-3 days.

Some districts have stringent stuff I guess... the district I fall in doesn't and it's a somewhat large district.

It could be that if you're an adult participating in a children's camp that they need to cover their bases. Not sure which camp you are referring to - a children's camp, family camp, or specific age group camp?

However, I know that all children's camps require stringent information, and background checks on all adults who participate.

These days unfortunately require things like this.

Somewhat off the subject, but in my previous assembly, we were instructed by the pastor to not lay hands on anyone. Only the ministers were to do so. The reason is he had been to a church conference in which a legal expert spoke about a church which was sued when a Pastor laid hands on a deacon to pray for him and he fell out and hit himself on a chair and was injured. Yes, the legal expert said the deacon sued his own church and Pastor.

The point is it may seem silly or really weird that a church camp is requiring this kind of information, but it's likely not without good reason.

This is for adult/family camp and the form is required for anyone staying on the campground.
But once again, ADULTS! There are regulations for everything. And this is current. It just seems over the top.

I always loved church camp. As a child and as an adult/ It's been many years since I stayed at camp for a week.

As a rule there were excellent preachers and Bible teachers.

Wouldn't the "rules" prevent the opportunity for a "sinner" to experience spiritual growth?
