Democrats Are For American Interests W/ Keystone!

"Senate Democrats said Tuesday they’ll push amendments to legislation approving the Keystone XL pipeline requiring that it’s built with domestically produced steel and that the oil it carries is used in the U.S."

What a great idea, right-- actually I thought it would be a given that the pipeline to be built on American soil would be built using AMERICAN steel and that the oil transported by the pipeline would be used here in America as well.

If this is the new negotiating point, I'd hate to see what things looked like BEFORE the negotiations!

When will ALL the people in Washington get a clue?!

What this does is essentially kill the bill without the President having to veto it as he's repeatedly threatened to do.

They don't have "American" interests at heart, they have 2016 interests and beyond at heart.

But why would insisting that the steel used to build the pipeline be American steel and that at least some of the oil transported be used in America kill this bill?

Because Keystone is a Canadian company. They've already threatened to stop the project if Democrats force this.

So this Canadian company that wnats to build a pipeline across our country wants to use non U.S. steel to build it and that is supposed to be alright and acceptable?

The oil being transported is not supposed to help Americans but that is supposed to be acceptable?

2) Who says the oil won't be used here either? Source it.
3) What gives the Democrats the right to demand what products a private company uses in its construction?

Look, I'm not for this Keystone bill. The US Congress should not be passing a law to benefit a single, private business. If this bill was open to all oil companies, I would be more inclined to support it, but it isn't. However, I'm also not going to applaud Democrats for demanding and trying to dictate which products a private company uses in its construction. That's a stupid and incredibly bad precedent to set.

Think it through, JD. Put off the partisan blinders and use your brain.

If these two things are part of the plan, why should or would this hold up the project? If this was part of the plan, why cant the GOP get behind this?
