Foot Washing as part of Wedding Ceremony

This past Saturday a young couple at our church got married and as part of the ceremony they washed each other's feet. It was a very touching part of the ceremony and the pastor told me this is the second or third wedding he has done that the bride and groom did this.

I had not heard of this before. is this something you have observed in Wedding ceremonies at your church or other churches in your area?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I've never seen or heard of this being done. I've heard of couples taking communion, but not foot-washing.

Re: Foot Washing as part of Wedding Ceremony

Foot washing was something my wife and I engaged in privately the day of, but after our wedding ceremony, when we were alone.

This must be a new trend. I've never seen it or heard of it.
