Are You a Voice, Or Are You an Echo?
by John Carroll
After over 400 years of silence, out of the wilderness of Judea came a
voice ringing with authority and heavy with purpose.
John did not fit the popular religious fashion of his day. Rather than long robes and broad phylacteries, he was clad in a garment of camel's hair. His diet was also unorthodox, locusts and wild honey.
But his message was so compelling that people from all walks of life came to hear him--soldiers and publicans, pharisees and kings--none could resist the man who came with a fresh Word from God.
.... more....

True.
And now it remains to define....
Who are the voices and who the echos...
Who are the crowds and who are the ones crying in the wilderness...
As each of us reads this post we will, generally, all define ourselves as the voice and relegate those who disagree with our stance as the echos.
The article is true... without a doubt.
How it affects each of us will, unfortunately, be defined on how we view ourselves and it is most often human nature that we view ourselves in the light of right and few there be that can change that concept of ourselves.
So... in the end... we pat each other on the back and go home.

I believe an echo is one who has not the spirit of the Berean. They only mount the stump to regurgitate what someone else said... thus an echo. We need men who will know that they know that they know and then proclaim it boldly in the marketplace to the deliverance of men's souls! These are the voices! Originals, everyone having the same message of a Savior triumphant and a sinner redeemed!
Oh that I could hear the certain sound... oh the more that I could feel "the Voice" rise up in my throat in all its fullness as I declare the majesty of our King and extend the invitation for others to join in His Kingdom!

Digger,
In the Leadership Class I taught last night, one of the things I dealt with was the fact that if one would be a leader, he must first demonstrate his ability to lead--read change--himself.
In order to do that, it requires a brutal self-honesty that few are capable of.
You just about have to have people in your life who will shoot straight with you if you you are going to be able to do it.
Most of us are far more willing to be ruined by praise than we are to be saved by criticism.
