Concealed Weapon Carrier stops mall shooting
In the wake of the Portland, OR mall shooting, more people are wondering why the shooter ended his spree so quickly (whatever the reason, thankfully, he did).
New information coming out may point to a reason why. A private citizen with a concealed weapons permit confronted the shooter.
The carrier had the shooter in the sights of his Glock 22, but did not take the shot for fear of hitting a bystander standing behind the shooter.
However, after seeing the armed concealed carrier aiming a gun at him, the shooter then took his own life.

Re: Concealed Weapon Carrier stops mall shooting
I think this is an interesting point to consider. Most of these mass shooters end up killing themselves when they feel they are being closed in on, as in the case of the CT shooter. When he realized police were closing in on him, he shot himself.
Just think if one person had a gun in that school... how many lives could have been saved?
Think how many lives were saved in Portland because this guy in the video above had the guts, and the training to use his gun in a responsible way. He almost shot the shooter, but at the last moment, someone stepped behind the guy, and he held his fire. The shooter realized someone had trained a gun on him, and went ahead and shot himself, as most of them do.
Obviously, having a concealed weapon no doubt saved many lives in this particular incident, and others too.

Re: Concealed Weapon Carrier stops mall shooting
I'm thinking about the following position...
-Support the assult weapons ban.
-Support closing loopholes in gun shows.
-Support allowing "staff" with concealed carry permits to carry in schools, churches, and various venues that opt out of being "gun free zones".
-Support improving screening and security in schools.
The way I see it... freedoms have limits. I have the freedom of speech... but I can't yell fire in a crowded building. I have the right to bear arms... but I can't freely purchase or own a nuclear warhead.
I think this position curtails some gun rights to help get assult weapons off the streets. The position also expands gun rights to allow people with concealed carry permits to carry in more venues to increase public safety with relation to first responders in violent situations.
Thoughts???

1) I am against any ban on semi-automatic weapons-- which would include assault rifles.
2) Laws with loop holes are bad laws that need to be fixed or repealed.
3) Encouraging more people to own guns legally will help to reduce the amount of people who die when someone decides to try to kill in mass. However, there's little a country can do to prevent crazies from doing crazy things without infringing on the rights of the non-crazies.
4) Supporting the increase of screening and security in schools sounds nice and good, but I see where this would become a freedom-stripping monstrosity.
Americans have become so fearful!
It's nauseating and maddening!
Many Americans don't value freedom any more.
Americans don't need to fear a dictator coming in and stripping Americans of their individuals rights and freedoms-- not when we're so eager to give them away for the sake of security.

Assault weapons OFF THE STREET?
When is the last time you saw someone walking down the street carrying an AK or an AR? I dont believe in 59 years of living in America I have ever seen the first one.
What people really mean is to take semi automatic weapons out of the hands of EVERYONE except the Army and the Police.
That made Adolf Hitler unstoppable in Germany. Stalin unstoppable in Russia. Sometimes people ask why did not the people rise up and stop them?
Because their right to gun ownership had been taken away for the "greater good".
Its happening right here in Amerika.

One can still purchase a semi-automatic AK-47, but you're right in that the relative few who own these don't usually walk or drive to Starbucks or Wal-Mart with their AK strapped to their back.

My AR barely, if ever, leaves our bedroom (no, it isn't some sort of kinky toy -just there if/when we need it). I DO have my handgun on me (yes, an evil semi-auto) all the time. We also have a few other guns around the house. ALL of them have a full mag, a round in the chamber, and ready to let loose if needed. Granted we don't have any kids and wouldn't be so loose with them IF we had any younger ones here, but we don't, so we do.
I am also looking at adding the ultimate "force multiplier" to my arsenal. It is not a gun, but when used with one the night becomes a close ally.

This is only a gen1 scope, but still very highly rated. I don't even want to look through a gen2 or gen3 since I know I will be then disappointed with anything less and I simply cannot afford how much $$$ they cost.
