Mrs. Obama-- $1,000.00 dress
Just kiddin!
She wore a $35.00 dress from H&M for her recent national television appearance.
Alas, had she been wearing a $1,000.00 dress, she would have been criticizedas being out of touch or whatever one can think of when it is just your desire to criticize.
She is a shining example of American femininity and class-- without being "puffed up."

Exactly. I wouldn't have thought it odd for her to wear a $1,000 dress. She's the President's wife, that's normal for her office. And she's probably worn her fair share of expensive ones.
But it's nice that she doesn't require them. 
I like the current trend going around of wearing clothes from the vintage shops. I loooooove vintage clothing!

With her income, $1,000 is not a lot to spend on a dress.
Lots of preachers spend more than that on clothes.

They usually are posted up at minister's conferences.

In cold weather I preach/teach in jeans and a flannel shirt.
In hot weather I preach in shorts, a tee shirt and sandals.
In other weather I dress casual also.

Yeah, except vintage is becoming more pricey as a result. You'd think the more demand, the price would go down. But probably because of limited supply, we are having to pay more. There are several retail chains now that use vintage as their niche.

A lot of First Ladies and many other celebrities often get some sort of expensive gown as a gift from some designer who wants their name in the newspapers. There's really no cost involved - just a straight trade off of services and the dress or gown ends up in the attic of the Smithsonian.
