Political correctness: Morality's poison pill
There are 4-5 threads on this page where the discussion is framed by political correctness more than biblical morality.
Example. The thread on the gay that committed suicide. The biggest sin according to political correctness is violation of privacy rights. It wasn't about the sodomite relationship and fornication.
The discussion of Eddie Long and down low is strongly slanted toward political correctness and it's cousin "tolerance" We must be tolerant in every way with alternative lifestyles and sexual misconduct.
The next cousin is diversity. Diversity issues of a detrimental nature exploded after Charles Darwin wrote: Origin of a Species
Quote:
On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life
|
He of course said the savage races were less evolved. The politically correct crowd is anxious to call some one a bigot.
Quote:
Eric Holder called us "a nation of cowards," and as much as it pains me, I agree (don't tell anyone!). His use of "coward" is telling because not only is it politically incorrect, but it describes what politically correct citizens become. We are cowards, both in our discussion of race, as he specified, and our discussion of life... When it comes to truth, we shrink from dialogue, cowering beneath "tolerance" as a personal badge.
|
Christians are pressured to be cowards and NOT express biblical observations about Muslims because it shows lack of tollerance. Tolerance is the high moral virtue.
Evil thrives under political correctness.

Re: Political correctness: Morality's poison pill
The next cousin of political correctness is:
Quote:
It's one thing to be civil and to strive for compassion, and quite another to deem it offensive to judge behavior, regardless of whether that judgment is sound.
|
Judgementalism. "You are being judgemental" In Pentecostal language is the accusation of legalism. If I call someone legalistic, I am actually being judgemental. Think about it.
Quote:
Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said, "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not find us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act."
|
Quote:
Where's Gloria Steinem? Where are the feminists who rail against Mama Grizzlies? How many liberals, because it makes them uncomfortable, aid the stoning of "whores," honor-killings, and female mutilation, bringing these realities closer to their reality?
|
My pastor is very well aware of topics that are not politically correct.
The liberal culture is the new bully.
Quote:
I fail to comprehend how citizens angered that 40 million infants have been aborted by Planned Parenthood can be labeled "extreme" and against "women's rights."
|
A position agains "womens rights" is deemed as right wing fundamentalist extremist.

Asinine, with emphasis on the first syllable. Say hello to Balaam, You are implying that some posters were condoning sodomy. I don't believe thay there are regular posters that give it a pass, except for maybe... Anyway, wot would be the point of discussing it as a sin. Most, if not all agree that it is a sin. Who here is tolerant of the down low? Not one person said that they condone it.

Actually we had a thread that said sodomites committed the sin of inhospitality.
I was not implying anyone condones sodomy. I said we are expected to tolerate it.

Fort Hood exemplifies this myopia. The military's posture toward Major Hasan, who the FBI knew was dangerous, led to thirteen graves, slaughtered G.I.s, borne not of terror but "man-caused disaster," a thousand miles from Manhattan. Rather than offend Hasan, the military allowed him to kill while aggressively making sure it didn't "leap to conclusions." The only leapers, it seemed, were those who plunged from towers, publicly dying, on a bright September morn.
|
Are we under pressure to not leap to conclusions on Eddie long? Looks like 4 lads are coming forth with their conclusions.

I was reminded that Biblically, we should not jump to conclusions.
"Judge not that ye be not judged."
"Don't judge a matter before its time."
"Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm."

This has been going on for years. Should have been judged years ago. What a silly thot on your part.

Looks like the annointing is long gone.
Eddie Long Done wrong. He is so into his own head trip, he did away with elders and deacons authority years ago.
Quote:
Another development gave Long authority few pastors ever enjoy. In 1994, New Birth’s deacons relinquished control of the church to the preacher. The change was comparable to a city council telling the mayor he could make all future decisions without its input.

Well I honestly felt convicted when I was corrected for judging the man of God in that thread.
My remarks echoed your sentiments, in light of what he said and di not say last Sunday.
However, since then, I have repented and prayed for God to forgive me for possibly judging the man of God, putting my mouth on him publicly when I should have just prayed for him until he is exonerrated or admits wrong doing.
Why don't you feel that same conviction?
You don't have to stone him, call him names or mock him-- declaring his guilt is where you are judging the man of God and you should be careful.
