Are you God Sent or Self Sent? Your thoughts-
God sent or self sent? Do we know the difference? Or what is the difference? Something I was thinking about today. When is it okay to pursue a Godly calling and when do you know when to wait for God to open the doors?
Do you think it makes a difference in someone's ministry? Could it influence effectiveness and purpose?

I am curious to know what others think-
When is okay to let people know of your ministry and get invited to minister at their church?
When is okay to branch out and make connection to minister--when are you to wait your thoughts and what others do for opportunities to minister(as some call it).

I know that you are referring to more than just a preaching ministry here. I believe that calling is vital in having an effective ministry. I have been in very difficult situations where the call of God was the only thing that got me through it all. I have always believed and have taught that a ministry will make room for itself. However, I believe there is nothing wrong with someone in ministry making it known that they are available for a certain ministry. If I had a singing ministry for example, I would prefer to have an agent who would promote my ministry to others. Networking is so vital to getting things accomplished nowadays. If someone ministers in my church and I can see that their ministry has an anointing on it and their gift will be a blessing to others, I do my best to let others know about them.

I would ask for a recommendation from their pastor, ask for a sample of their music, and if satisfied they would be a blessing to our congregation, check my calendar and do my best to provide an opportunity for them to sing. I have always done what I could to give singers a break. I have actually called other pastors and told them they need to have so and so at their church.

Thank you for your wisdom in this area, we have a couple in our church who sings in other churches quite frequently, not once has anyone ever considered calling Keith to get his input. But I know it has been a struggle for them because they wish to travel and sing full time and the doors haven't opened for them yet-
I hope more pastors read your post, because we should promote and help others as much as we could--you doing so probably has been a tremendous blessing to those you helped.

I don't know the answer to your question but I can tell you that waiting doesn't seem to be doing my call much good!

Well thats what I want to know, when does some one "make it happen"
I think many people feel like you they wait and nothing is happening---can be frustrating.

I have never pushed myself in front of men of God. I have waited for His timing. Of course, you know that old scripture that says "God Helps Those Who Help Themselves"... I cain't find the reference right now but I am SURE it must be in there
Seriously, it is frustrating to receive so much from God that you feel should be shared with more than just a handful, but God in His time will satisfy my soul!
At times I have accepted that because of my past failures I am still in a time of proving. I am not sure I am accepting of that concept anymore. The witness from your husband in a PM certainly has impacted me and there have been additional witnesses from men of God that have caused me to feel that it is nearing time for me to step out, let go and Let God!
