Conservatives seek gov't solutions after oil spill
(R) Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour states, "I'm not going to criticize the president for political reasons. I don't think it serves any purpose. I don't think it would be fair."
Re: Conservatives seek gov't solutions after oil s
"There's nothing inherently contradictory in saying we believe in smaller government and demanding that the government protect public safety," Brooks said.
Quoted from the article. and that is about as far as anyone needs to read. It sint interesting. It is simple truth. It is what all conservatives believe.

The media should be all over BO as should black america for being such a racist to have caused this oil spill then done nothing about it, the same way they bashed GW on the Katrina incident

There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

GWB got hammered for waiting 2 days (as per FEMA regulations) before doing anything.
Its been a month and a half and all Barak Obama has done is walk a beach in pretty slacks.
Yet he is getting a pass.
its idiocy.

The way the law is set up, the Federal government could not do more than what has been done in the time that has passed.
Coast Guard (Feds) was on the scene and working with BP from the beginning.
The President did not seek to circumvent the system, which would have fed more fuel to the idea that he wants to take over everything-- once this is all fixed.

The way the law is set up did not cause the Feds (Army corps of Eng.) from spending 3 weeks to tell Jindal that they would pay for 1 buffer island and he could pay for 5.
that is utter bunk. There are many things that the feds could and should have done but they have not acted and besides sending lawyers down there to figure out how to sue BP.

No offense, Bro; but I'll call you on the "way the law is set up" statement. Just what law are you referring to?
The simple fact of the matter is; the Feds and everyone else have pretty much left BP in charge of shutting down the pipe because in the best estimation of the Feds - BP is the the best resource for doing that.
Time will tell if that was a good bet on the part of the Federal government. Given the fact that this spill is in waters under Federal jurisdiction gives the President huge discretionary powers.
He could declare the whole site - indeed, everything in the Gulf more than 2 miles off shore a Federal Disaster Area, quarantine the Gulf of Mexico, requisition everything that floats from Bar Harbor, Maine, to Brownsville, TX, and start sending the Five Magical Musical Tones to signal that we need help from the aliens in Close Encounters.
So far, he has come short of doing that. Time will tell if he has made the right decision.

It is also noteworthy that this was the quote you lifted from the article when it is obvious that the quote you lifted does not fit the overall theme of the article.
I guess my fellow conservatives want the government to run like their cable company-- "government on demand."
Oh and not one red cent of taxes should be raised by the local, state or federal government to help "fix" the Gulf Coast region and beyond who will be affected by this.
We all know the "gubment" got money dey just don't tell us bout!
And I know dey hidin' them aliens out dere in Area 51-- Obama probly goin ta release 'em to destroy the whole country in 2012, mark mah words!

Yes, actually. When I demand a government service, I expect it. When I demand my own privacy and space to pursue my own interests, I expect that as well. It's called "FREEDOM!"
