Re: 1 corth 13:8

Paul was clear the gifts were with the Church till Yeshua comes.

4: I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5: That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
6: Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
7: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1 Cor. 1:4-7

Gifts of utterance and knowledge are specified as a witness that Christ was in them. They were to come behind in no gift waithing for Yeshua to come.

Also the Lord said signs would follow those who believe. When men cease to believe there will be a cessation of gifts.

The Lord also said the works he did we would do also. Again he put no limit on it except unbelief.

Interesting note that 35 yeas ago today as I was at work having repented 6 weeks earlier and having never been in a Pentecostal Church I had my first personal encounter with tongues and prophecy!

I had not yet been to ANY Church at that point.

So I am quite confident tongues are still for today as well as prophetic gifts.
