Changing Denominations
It is time. I have tried, tried, fought it and fought it but kept doing the same things over and over again. I am no longer Pentecostal/Apostolic. A good friend told me, not too long ago in fact, that I should join a Methodist church and forget about it. Well, a Methodist I am not, but I am now officially..."A Christian".

Re: Changing Denominations
Could you define "Christian" for us please ?
Would you mind sharing your "Statement of Faith" ?
How about "What you Believe" ?
Do you agree with any of the following ? ~~
Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
Those that believe that every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith
with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

In fact I think that the insinuation of "hateful" Pentecostals is coming mostly from the fertile imaginations of bitter, backslidden ex Apostolics who are constantly trying to find a way to justify their actions. ~ strait shooter

I have received what is termed "The APostolic Experience" but no longer claim to be Apostolic. I really don't believe in the cultish practices of the religiosity that many Apostolic Churches profess/teach/and exploit.
If the admin would like me to disappear for not claiming to be Apostolic in denomination then I will. Although we have many people on here that don't calim to be "Apostolic" or go to those type of churches themselves any longer.

Can I respectfully ask what specifically made you change you views?

There are multiple reasons why. I choose to look at things progressionally. God leads us to higher levels of revelation in him as we mature in relationship with God.
I am a very difficult person to change but when you have banged your head against a wall for several decades then it is time to listen to God and change.
If you want more specific than that you might look around you and the saints that go to your church and see how much is just "fitting into the societal structure" and what is truly of God.

Rhoni,
It's a very, very difficult thing to do. Don't beat yourself up for banging your head on the wall. It's what you have been taught to do and retraining may take a lifetime.

That is just it - Jesus is not a "Cult Leader". He set us free from that "Cultish behavior". Drinking His cup is not drinking the kool-aid as is drinking the cup of religiosity!

I think I can speak for the rest of the admins in this case, you don't need to disappear at all.
