Close Call For CC1 Youngest Son
As some of you may know from another thread my youngest son and I went riding together on our motorcyles yesterday.
Part 2 of our ride got waylaid when I had a battery problem and my bike wouldn't start back up after I accidently left the key on and the lights on bright for 30 or 45 minutes.
My son left the house about 5 pm to continue part 2 of the ride without me. This was a ride to the other side of Nashivlle to Cool Springs to see some friends and eat a good dessert at the restaurant my son works at part time.
We knew that the weather forecast had called for high winds and hailstorms yesterday afternoon but not had developed yet by late afternoon.
I thought my son would be back home by seven or eight pm. However being 20 years old he ended up at a girls house in Franklin!
Mom and I were watching TV and they cut in with a radar map of the weather and I saw that in about 15 minutes it was going to hit the area my son was in. I called his cell phone and told him he needed to get on his bike and hightail it home immediately.
He did so and had fine weather on the big four lane bypass coming home for the first 20 miles or so. Then topping a hill things suddenly changed. Apparently the system had cell that jutted out from the main cell coming through and he ran into it.
Suddenly he saw all kinds of debris being blown across the road. The wind was so strong it blew him from the left lane into the right lane. He could barely maintain control of his motorcycle.
Then it started to rain along with the wind. He was only able to go about 50 mph because of the problem controlling the bike with the wind. He knew if he could just get the next five miles or so he would be getting on IH24 and then running out ahead of the direction the wind was blowing.
Sure enough once on IH24 he was able to speed up and get ahead of the rain. He said the wind at his back was tremendous but at least it was not crossways as before.
Unfortunetely once he had to exit and was going a different direction the wind was once again blowing sideways at him and it took every bit of strength and skill for him to keep the motorcycle upright.
Mom and I were anxiously standing in the garage with the door open waiting for him.
It started hailing and raining literally within 15 seconds of him pulling in the garage!!!!!
He was soaked from the rain he had already been in but thankfully he was not on the road with hail coming down.
I thank the Lord my son is safe!! Mom and Dad were praying like crazy as you can imagine.

Nuts, isn't it!
Just going through the second accident with Tarah brought all the memories back from last year when I was on the phone with her while she was hitting trees..............not good!
