according to Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC's Morning Joe program this morning. The rumor (and that's all it is right now) is that Colin Powell will officially endorse Barack Obama for President. I'd read rumblings online for a while, but didn't really expect him to jump in.
I'm not sure what kind of affect his endorsement would have. As a general rule, I don't usually believe endorsements have much sway at all, but there aren't many people in this country anymore who are as widely respected as Colin Powell. Given Colin Powell's reputation and the amount of respect he has around the country, this could be a factor for those voters who don't trust Obama in foreign policy matters.
Maybe the Obama'ites have seen the tightening in the latest polls and are getting nervous??
We shall see what happens...

for a guy voting for a third party Mike you sure sound like an Obama supporter.
That has been bugging me for a while.
Just cant shake that feeling bro.
Well I guess get out your bug spray is the only advice I can give you. I don't really feel the need to defend my word to you. I guess you'll have to keep shaking.
I've said I'm voting for Bob Barr and that's what I intend to do regardless of how you feel about it.

I think it's a legitimate observation to make, Mike. Let's kid ourselves here.
For someone who insists he's not supporting either of these 2 candidates, you don't exactly come across as "fair and balanced" here. If you don't have a preference for either one, it just seems odd that you would spend a disproportionate amount of time bashing McCain on this forum moreso than Obama.

Ferd, there is definitely a very specific, consistent, and traditional flow of the political leanings of a forum like this. I think that going upstream against that flow can be perceived as supporting BO. I can assure you that it is very possible to be fed up with the GOP and the games that you perceive them playing with the religious right and not be a BO or Democrat supporter.
I think that to compound it, there is something inside some of us that does enjoy going against the flow to begin with
