still traveling...
My life on earth is but a span and so I’ll do the best I can…Riding down this so called highway in the backlands of Maranhao, this is the song I found myself singing over and over and over again…
We are reminded of the brevity of life with each passing day…weeks pass become months, months become years and years become a lifetime…and during this short span of time our work is either wood, stubble and hay or precious stones…gold and silver…It is not the material things that we gather that count in the end. The buildings we build or the house we live in but it is lives that have been changed by our passing by …the impressive material things are ashes only in the light of eternity…the real values are not counted out in dollars but in the souls that we have gathered for heaven along life’s journey…
Too soon our strength leaves us, our hair becomes gray our steps are slower and we find ourselves winding up life’s race…we enter the sunset years and look back on our labors…have we given our all? Have we valued souls above our daily bread or has our life gathered riches instead of giving so that all might hear the story of Jesus…
We balance our books one way God balances His another way…
The things names, titles, prestige do not look so important at the ending of life’s race…eternal values become very important…
Houses and lands are left to others to fuss and fight about…
Many things that once seemed so important dim in the face of eternity…
Another year has almost come to a close I ask you, Will the Judge of the earth smile when He calls your name?
