It is a good message... was very impacting at the time it was delivered. The most popular recorded version of it seems to be the one he preached here in my city years ago.

I think sometimes we are all guilty of wanting preaching, singing and worship that entertains US instead of HIM. I'm also not sure anointing and entertainment fit into the same arena of spiritual accomplishments.

I never met Verbal Bean or heard him but he evidently was quite a guy.

P.S. I don't agree with him on some of the standards stuff.
How do you get anything out of this without embracing the standards, VB was UUC on standards, without them you are a scummy pot.

He was an awesome praying man. Prayer is our most valueable weapon against the enemy. I love to feel the closeness of God´s presence.
Today was a remarkable day. We went into a town where not one Jesus name church has ever been and made lots of visits. When we left people were begging us to come and build a church!

I read the book "The Battlefield" about a year ago.
It was about a "board run" church, with PCI doctrine and liberal standards.
A pastor brought in Verbal Bean to try to straighten things out.
There were some real problems in that church that needed correcting.
Several people left the church. These folks had been controlling things and their leaving was good for the church. The church wound up with a single pastor ruling and controlling everything. He took all the tithes and was accountable to nobody. I have to wonder if that didn't result in another bad situation but just to the opposite extreme. Yes, there were water and Spirit baptisms and the overall numbers increased but didn't they wind up with just a different set of problems?

That happened more than once, and the end result also was not good at all. I disagree with VB's approach and focus, one man control as you point out in not a cure all.
