I assume the sermon is telling everyone how horrible they are and how no matter how much they are doing, they are still not doing enough? I think I've heard that one about a trillion times already...

I thought they were all preaching at big conferences and selling Cd's. Do they really get out on the streets? (GoWinSouls excluded)

Haha!

There are some real evangelists around... probably most of them do not wear the label, however...

Desert!!!

I don't know who you are, but I am appalled at your statements. Unfortunately, I have done the exact same thing on here by lumping everyone together. That is neither godly nor fair. It is judgemental.

I reccomend a big plate of crow and an apology to those on this board who are UC. Yes, there are liberals here. I would imagine that you would find some in your own church if you were to shake the bushes hard enough, unless you are the only member.

Further, while UPCI os very liberal in some respects, I for one (license minister that I am) am not nor do I intend to become liberal. So, your statement that ALL of us are is grossly misguided. You might be surprised at how large a number of us still hold to the old paths which I agree are right.

So, if your acidic comments must be made, at least apply them correctly for it is you who will ultimately get burned for acting like this.
Repentance is a good thing, especially from the pharissee spirit. It doesn't mean that you give one inch of your belief, it just means that you are willing to at least TRY to reach folks who believe differently instead of driving them further into error.

Just a thought...

But after thinking about him for some time I would like to share my opinions about this message and about him.

The gist of his message was about rebellion against God, that was manifested in Laurel with very specific applications that were meant in mho locally. They should not be applied across the board in every situation.

Their issue was rebellion against God that was manifested in rising up against the local pastor/preacher.

I think you don't have to necessarily buy into the applications of what he did in that local setting and at the same time be considered to be rebellious and deserving of rebuke/judgment.

But rebellion/refusal to submit to God's ways (which by the way means submitting to righteousness of JC as a free gift, instead of trying to earn it apart from him) manifested in any way is deserving of rebuke, and if unrepentant judgement, no matter what form it takes.

A previous church that I pastored went through the same situation, and they ran me off for the same reasons. And it is my understanding they no longer even exist after running off 2 other preachers.
Keith,

I agree that there are places that the pew chews up preachers and spits the out, I have seen it and it is not right in any way.

However I cannot embrace the approach nor the focus of what is heard on the "Scummy Pot" tape. It is a message of intimidation and fear, it places in people to serve God out of fear of damnation, death and disease.

How many folks have left and are scared to death to return to any relationship with God. How many have gone insane under the influence of the fear generated by defining God as a monster. Gratefully that is not the approach nor focus of true biblical ministry. May God continue to guide the church out of the dark ages.

Excellent!! It's almost like you were listening in to a conversation I had with a friend today.

Thank you...

Does it also mean that those who are in the body of Christ, those who are the born-again sons of God, can walk together even though they don't agree on every thing including standards?
