The point is that the Bible says that no MAN has seen God, not that no angel has seen God.

but Paul certainly taught we are spirit, soul, and body.

No, Paul did not teach that we are spirit, soul and body and for you to say so is saying that Paul contradicted Genesis. Notice
Genesis 2:7, "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and
man became a living soul" (emphasis mine). The formed man refers to the body; the breath of life refers to the spirit. The result of the spirit being breathed into the body was that man became a living soul.
The Greek word translated "soul" in the passage you quoted is
psuche, from which we get the English word psyche. It has various meanings, some of which are synonymous with the spirit and some of which are suggestive of the mind and emotions:
- breath
- the breath of life
- the vital force which animates the body and shows itself in breathing 1a
- of animals 1a
- of men
- life
- that in which there is life
- a living being, a living soul
- the soul
- the seat of the feelings, desires, affections, aversions (our heart, soul etc.)
- the (human) soul in so far as it is constituted that by the right use of the aids offered it by God it can attain its highest end and secure eternal blessedness, the soul regarded as a moral being designed for everlasting life
- the soul as an essence which differs from the body and is not dissolved by death (distinguished from other parts of the body)

I find it interesting that when John escaped physical limitations as a result of being "in the Spirit" on the Isle of Patmos, he not only had a revelation of Jesus Christ, but saw God seated upon the throne and Jesus Christ seated at the right hand of He who sat upon the throne.
|
Where does it say John saw Jesus seated at the right hand (physically on the right side) of the One sitting on the throne? John saw Jesus as a Lamb slain and He saw Jesus approach the throne to take the seven-sealed scroll.

This is what I believe will happen when we finally escape the veil of our flesh. We will see God in a way that we have never been able to see Him because we have become like Him.

Well, I'm going to go with John on this one:
"Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure" (
1 John 3:2-3).
