In a way this story about the ring being destroyed reminds me a bit of the faith healers who come by and pray for peoples joints and indigestion problems when they're sick with other things that could kill them.
Why would God destroy a ring in that manner when there would have been issues such as pride, jealousy, immorality, infighting, contention, division and so on much more important, serious and threatening and that needed the Lord 's attention much more than the presence of a ring on somebody's finger.
Please!
Certainly good points, I'm remotely skeptical, but willing to examine the case on its own merit per the report(s).
I think about Ananias and Sapphira, and how in verse 12 of chapter 5 in Acts we also read of many signs and wonders wrought among the people, and I consider mindfully the various purposes for all of that. Therefore, I see the possibility of such an event, but with all I've heard and witnessed that has been confirmed bogus in my Pentecostal experience, I would that there be better documentation complete with location and date at least. Even then, I still would rather call on someone that was present. Howbeit, I have witnessed first hand some fairly fearful signs and wonders personally. At any rate, I would imagine that something like this might be a bit more common among us now if it were that serious of an issue.

That is an excellent point.

If memory serves me correctly I understand it happend elsewhere too such as Texas ?
Didn't Verbal Bean have the power to pronounce Judgment on folks ?
People today don't believe in such but remember anninias and saphira? maybe that's what we need in the church today - a little fear and reverance
I listened to the original tapes of the seminar that Verbal Bean taught as Brother M.G.Davis in Elton,La is a personal friend and he had the tapes.Brother Bean was his pastor when he lived in Houston.
The woman had a bad attitude I feel is the reason but the incident did happen.
O no i'm never touchy you made it sound as if I just made it up from thin air I was very seroius. I never was in the meetings where it happend but have heard ministers talk about these things all my life. I heard the word "Melted". now, it's been several years there may be variances in stories and how it's related but my understanding is that when the rings came off, they twisted up
Excuse me please for stepping into this coversation.
I am only off work on Monday and Tuesday nights, so my posting is kind of speratic....that being said...
Every single ring I have had, and I have tried to wear as an "extra ring", since I have been saved, has actually broken. They have split right through the middle. My watches have broken also.
The only ring I have is my origanal wedding band, which is a plain siver band. We were quite poor at the time and I was very against jewlery of any kind.
I have 2 pretty pins I wear for dress up--fancy--special events.
I could see it happening--a ring breaking like that--but I think it represents a deeper thing to the individual than just "standards". Several pastors wives, that I know, have lovely diamond rings and watches. Theirs are fine. I do not think it "sinful".
I would have problems with it. It was my fault for being young and envyous. My hubby did not approve of jewlery but I thought "God, if they have it why can't I?" All of it is personal and means more to the individual God is dealing with about it.
