I peter 3:3-5 ....let it not be......wearing of gold.......even the ornament
I tim 2:8...not with gold or pearls
Let's see here...
Quote:
1Pe 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
1Pe 3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation [coupled] with fear.
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
Alright lets put it to the test here...
Whose adorning let it not be...
outward adorning of plaiting the hair... God doesn't want women to plait their hair? We will assume, for the moment, that this is what he is saying.
wearing of gold... God doesn't want women to wear gold? We will assume, for the moment, that this is what he is saying.
putting on of apparel... God doesn't want women to put on apparel?
Wow... what an interesting form of holiness huh?
It doesn't appear that it is a strict and absolute prohibition but an admonition to understanding that our adorning... the part of us that would catch another's attention... shouldn't be how we primp ourselves up but, instead should be an excellent spirit.
If it were a strict prohibition then we find all women commanded to remain naked at all times so that they can be holy.

Someone is going to chime in and say that you got it all out of context.
The comparison is between the Lamb's bride and the mother of harlots. They difer in many ways but not to be excluded is adornment.
Collosians1:10 walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.
What a difference a line can make.
haha! yeah.. not much in yours either, doc. Anyone can misinterpret scripture to suit their preferences. Scripture you quoted does NOT teach "no jewelry."
I'm a single man. One of the first things I look for is a wedding ring. My future wife will most definitely have a wedding ring. Once I asked a lady that I thought was attractive to dinner, didn't see a ring and didn't know she was married. Yah, awkward moment . . .
I know an evangelist who flew in to a city (somewhere between the pacific and atlantic) to preach a series of revival services. The pastor met him at the airport, greeted him, noticed this evangelist was wearing a wedding ring, turned around and put him on a flight out of town. Refused to let the evangelist preach, even though the evangelist offered to remove the ring and keep it off during the time he was there.
That's just ridiculous.
It's a personal standard, not a Biblical standard. I hate it when people try to push their personal standards on everyone.
I would like to clarify something, I nor my wife wears a wedding ring we are as conservative as they come, however, I am not entirely opposed to Apostolics wearing them. I feel that it could become an issue when someones wife is pregnant and what could that say about thier witness? I also understand that there are several people that would not want thier spouse to be flirted with, so they opt to wear a ring in mutual submission to thier spouse. I hope this makes sense, and if there is someone that can provide a better argument than "its a sin" then I would be grateful.
Those who say 'it's a sin' have no proof, because even the Bible speaks about how God decorates His bride with jewelry. I can't understand why He'd do that if it were a sin.
There is no scripture that even hints that wearing jewelry is a sin.
