It's not an OT or NT issue, it's a "God's view" issue and His view is very clear on jewelry. The problem is people have their mindsets and then search the Bible desperately looking for Scriptural support of their position instead of accepting God's view. Wherever, God speaks on this issue His view is clear. God is not against gold, silver, and precious stones!

No, YOU are being foolish and YOU know it. You read gold and pearls and costly array (clothing) and you automatically assume that means EVERYTHING across the board, yet only you get to define what that means. Why then are cheap plastic ear rings a sin to wear? They are not gold, not silver, not pearls, not costly...and WHY is it only women? Paul was addressing women, not men. That alone should be enough for any objective person, not being lead by a presumption to look at this verse again and see that Paul was not outlawing jewelry across the board, when God himself describes Israel in favorable terms being decked in fine jewelry and costly array.

Maybe the Elder can explain how women are not to braid the hair...is that what it means brother? Women are going to hell if they braid their hair? Can men braid their hair?

* * * Question * *
Why would Jesus use the illustration of putting a RING upon the Prodical's finger" if it was sin ??? I've been hit with this one and never knew how to reply. I heard that it was a signant ring but nonetheless still a Ring, right ?
