Okay, I still love each and everyone of you here. It's just too bad that some of you will condemn a preacher that preaches the same message, but wears a wedding ring. Talk about unity, gotta love it!

Good post! Lucifer wore pride like a garment. Five times in Isa.14:13-14 he spoke words of sedition against his Creator. He declared, "I will ascend", "I will exalt", "I will sit", "I will ascend", and "I will be like the Most High".

It was pride that became Lucifer's downfall, not the the jewelry in itself. It's pride that causes things that God has given us that are good and lawful and meant to be a blessing and turns them into something sinful and detrimental to us. It is obvious that Lucifer's fall was rooted in self-will. When our will has been surrendered to the will of God, innate, amoral objects do not become an issue in our lives.

That is why Scripture declares "Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall."
(Prov.16:18)

I wear a wedding ring. I can honestly say that I don't give a lot of thought to the fact I wear a wedding ring each day, anymore than I take notice of my watch. Both are worn for a legitimate purpose, not for ornamentation. The ring to show that I am already committed to a marriage relationship, and the watch to show that I have no excuse for not knowing what time it is.

TB NO ONE at least not me is arguing PRIDE was not the original sin and yes we can have pride without jewelry all of us have to constantly crucify pride in our lives none of us are immune to pride. However the PASSAGE declares PLAINLY his BEAUTY corrupted him and part of that beauty was jewels. That is a fact. Was that ALL his problem? No and no one said it was but it contributed to his fall because it is recorded it did. God tested him and he failed the test and jewelry was part of the test. He a Heavenly creature was exalted because of it then what about MORTAL man with all his failures?

So, basically, what you are saying is an angel couldn't handle it, what makes us think we can.

So, are you saying that ugly Christians have a much better chance of being saved than beautiful Christians?

Sounds like a defeatist attitude to me! I much prefer the "I know that I can make it, Jesus put it in my will" mindset myself.

TB, Brother Epley is making a good point. You can try to marginalize it all you want, but there was a reason that pride got into Lucifer and it was his beauty. You may not think wearing a gold wedding band and a watch is ornamentation, but it is, albeit functional, according to you. I stopped sharing my testimony about wedding rings and gold because I got tired of people mocking me and making a joke out of it, but a case can be made for Christians refraining from wearing any jewelry.

I like that.Today I am not even wearing a watch and guess what??? It doesn't matter. When I went out to lunch I was with the man I have been married to for almost twenty one years.I don't remember anyone looking at us and voicing any opinions.I just had a great time.

Now do you think I am saying that??? However many times folks that are very attractive do have some temptations available to them particularly in the area of vanity.
