"...Put a ring on his FINGER..." (Lu.15:22) The cross reference for this Scripture takes you to
Genesis 41:42,
"Then Pharoah took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph's finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck."
I can accept that in context both these verses denote symbols of authority. However, you are trying to make the Word say something it doesn't say because what it says does not align with your convictions.
In the Hebrew language the word "ring" is
tabbaoth and refers to
"[ornamental or signet] ring" A ring is ornamental regardless of the purpose for which it is worn. I fail to see how the ring being attached to a strip of leather and worn on the hand would change the significance of Jesus telling a parable in which He sees nothing wrong with a ring being worn on the finger of the son.
