Do I still vote for McCain after this?

I'm Sure everyone has heard about cindy McCains dress she wore to the convention. if not it was an outfit that totaled $317,100 ......Iknow but now I'm thinking I cant vote for McCain no one who could spend that much money on a dress would be able to know what a bad economy could mean for lower to middle class people . I also would wonder about thier ablility to manage the nations budget?I mean Ive always had the attitude that if you can earn enough to be extravegant then do it...but that is just stupid I dont care how much money you have ...or am I just a poor county boy who dosent get?

Are you a socialist? If not, then let her spend whatever she wants. I'm still checking, but I think the clothes were on loan from the designer.

Re: Do I still vote for McCain after this?

Lets start with Pressings question. Are you a socialist? why do you care what she spent on a dress? IT IS HER MONEY.....

then lets move on to something that adds a bit of balance.

http://philanthropy.com/news/updates...charity-giving

here is some good info on John McCain's giving to charities. 26% of his income last year. 18% the year before.

100% of his book royalties.

toltal in the last 10 years exceeds $1.8M

Also, John McCain didnt wear a dress worth 300k... and Cindy isnt running for president.....

then let me ask you this question. did the source you got that stupid bit of information from, provide the information about how much time and money Cindy McCain gives to charity? No perspective first lady in living memory has done more

The information is actually posted at Vanity Fair and Laura Bush's dress cost more. LOL!

Still pretty sure those outfits are "on loan" from the designers.

It's nothing different than what you see at a General Conference on any given year.....

when substance fails....

hey, this HAD to happen! MO took it on the chin for the brastrap flap!

the media had to fix it by castigating Cindy... but CM looked elegant and classy so the fall back position for all communists is "It cost too much"

It wasn't the dress that cost so much--it was the diamond earrings.

"ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Potential U.S. first lady Cindy McCain sported about $300,000 in designer clothes and accessories at one of the GOP convention sessions, fashion experts said.

Vanity Fair totaled up the duds McCain wore during Tuesday's session of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., and found the Oscar de la Renta frock McCain wore was $3,000; the Chanel watch, $4,500; shoes, $600, and a four-strand pearl necklace, between $11,000 and $25,000, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

Rounding out the ensemble were 3-carat diamond earrings, a mere $280,000. The newspaper said the jewelry estimates were based on the assumption that the gems were, ah, real.

First lady Laura Bush, by comparison, wore an outfit that night estimated to cost between $3,000 and $4,000, the newspaper reported."

Right. It's a very common practice for designers and jewelers to loan out dresses and accessories to celebrities and political figures.

The articles I read stated an estimate of what the items were worth. Not necessarily what CM spent on them, or what they actually cost.
