[ 2 Cor 13:11] Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
[Phil 1:27] Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
[Phil 2:2] Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Light I was raised in Western Ky. where folks believed that personally however if you had been sitting in the pew they preached Acts 2:38 as fevently as we do. They baptized their AG & CoG kinfolks by the thousands.
It was in their personal conversations more than their preaching that weakened their message. I do NOT believe it was correct to merge with this mindset.

Re: Letter from Bro. Chester Wright to Bro. Haney
Many good men in the UPC asked me for years why I did not belong to the UPC my answer was always the same I could not belong to a group that gave license to men who did not preach the necessity of Acts 2:38 as the new birth.

The merge was a very big mistake and should have never taken place.

So, why are you a part of it?

I've heard stories of some apostolics who came to truth who got the real Holy Ghost before they became apostolic while they were attending false churches such as the Mormon Church, charismatic Catholic Church, etc. What does this tell me? This tells me that a person getting the Holy Ghost is dependent on a person's hunger and thirst for righteousness; and that just because a person gets the Holy Ghost in a "church" that is not right with God DOES NOT MEAN THAT GOD IS GIVING HIS THUMBS UP FOR THAT CHURCH!
To put it more succinctly, just because God baptized someone with the Holy Ghost in a church, doesn't mean that God is well pleased with that church.

Old Paths,
On this post you and I are definitely on the same page. Totally agree.
To the Forum,
Let me comment on trailblazing. Anyone ever stop and think what it means to do this? Just because our elders trailblazed, does that mean we shouldn't now?
I have the tapes of old Bro. Urshan preaching about when he decided to take a stand on Jesus Name baptism. He certainly had to take a stand.
However, trailblazing didn't stop with him, nor did it stop with his son... nor did it stop with our elders. Every generation needs some trailblazers. It might "freak out" some elders, but to those men I would say "Spend a day with that young man or woman and watch their ministry". Yes, the one that "freaks ya out". I think you might be surprised at the anointing on them, even in blue jeans.
Matter of fact, let me throw out a challenge to every "elder minister" that reads this. Go and spend a day with that young minister (I would define that as being under 40) whose lifestyle or minister style gets under your skin! I don't mean go and golf with them... I mean take them to the trenches and see how they minister. Go to the streets, the hospitals, the visitations... and just stand back, and watch how they ministry. Seriously, I CHALLENGE you to try it.
Bro. Wright, if you read this post... I challenge you to contact Bro. Mark Johnston at the The Journey and spend a day with him, as I described. I don't believe I know Bro. Johnston, but anyone who puts a website together like that... must have something together.
If every Elder out there would take the time to do this, they would be pleasantly surprised at what they find. Lines of communication would open up. Friendships would be formed. And both generations would learn a lot....

One poster here that attends a "PCI" church said he could not remember the last time he heard a message on the HGB in service. Baptism & the Godhead taught in a PRIVATE class????????????? Elder Gurley did NOT preach Acts 2:38 in a private class.
However their weakness on the message produced these folks who speak more Ashdod than Hebrew!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be clear NOT ONE PERSON SINCE PENTECOST HAS BEEN SAVED WITHOUT OBEYING ACTS 2:38!

Please don't paint us all with one big brush. We do preach genuine repentance and see lives drastically changed all the time. We have had probably ten couples in the past year who were living together when they started coming to church and now they are married and living a holy life. We've had so many people quit partying, drinking, etc. We've seen sinners by the droves come in and totally turn their lives around. They know that we don't put up with sin.
So, we're not all greasy grace, sloppy agape, Charismaniacs.

Sherri, I totally agree with your protests, but I think you know as well as I do that those on the other side of the fence will NEVER admit that.
When you leave, you leave it all in their minds. And, not to paint with the same broad brush, but I"ve met very few conservatives who can still fellowship liberals on a regular basis.
