I just hate seeing that scripture misused - it's talking about believers and unbelievers - light and darkness.
You are so cotton pickin picky! Expecting scripture to be used in context. Good grief, what is wrong with you woman?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
Quote from Ethel Goss (widow of 1st UPC Gen Supt. Howard Goss) book "The Winds of God"
Nina, it didn't start out that way. Both 3 & 1 steppers respected each other and even put a statement in the AOF that stated basically, that no one would "promote" their own views to the disunity of the body." That was specifically pointed at the 2 main views of Ac. 2:38.
What you say above is exactly what has happened and is still continuing to happen. So sad......especially since our world is such a sad condition.
The "fisherman" are arguing about the exact MOMENT a fish is actually IN the boat. Is it when his head goes over the gunwale? Is it halfway? Is it when his tail goes over? Or is it when it lands on the bottom of the boat?
There is so much arguing over this that they have forgotten about the fish. They convene conferences and hold meetings and pass resolutions and demand signed statements all about when the fish is actually IN the boat. If they would just get out on the water and catch the fish and celebrate with each other that they have fish in the boat instead of arguing about it, there would be so many fish in the boat that everyone would have to get more boats!!
Wouldn't that be terrible!
And God forbid if you actually start filling your boat! Then you'll come under question because you must not be doing something right or you're doing something you're not supposed to or your "doctrine" is off.
God must certainly weep over this foolishness!
Once again, I wholeheartedly agree!
Wanna know what I think is holding us back... God is DISPLEASED with the way we treat each other.
RELEVANCE??? (choke, choke)... We can't even relate to each other.... how are we EVER supposed to relate to non-believers???
I am so thankful my salvation is not dependent on my brothers!!! They'd surely crucify me.
So anyone that doesn't believe exactly like you is considered an unbeliever to you?
To quote Bro Eply:
"The 1945 merger. The PAJC should have never compromised their message. It would have been better to have had the two groups with their distinctions.
My thoughts."
This Spirit has always been in the UPC from the beginning: an unequal yoke.

It's not what I believe but what THEY believed.
Nina
Once again, unequal yoke means believers vs. unbelievers - - not just believe differently.
