Re: Letter from Bro. Chester Wright to Bro. Haney
Is "expressing concern" via internet forums the way we handle these sort of issues nowadays? See's more like character assassination to me.
Whatever happened to approaching a brother man to man?

Careful swinging that sword around there Brother. It has two edges, and search functions work wonders, O Great Borgslayer.

If you think you can bait me into being more specific than that on an internet forum, you are mistaken.
I am loyal to this Truth first, and those who preach it and live it without fear, favor, or compromise.

You obviously have a burr under your saddle and that is fine, but I am not going to be crowded into being stupid.

Yes, I most certainly do.
It's called integrity.
It is stupid (your word) to make baseless accusations against a man without speaking to him first, unless there is some sort of published evidence to support your claims.
Issuing some vague accusation against the man opens up all sorts of evil imaginations in the minds of our readers. It's nothing short of slander.

I was reading Eusebius the church historian last evening. He was talking about James the half-brother of Jesus who was the bishop of the church in Jerusalem. The historian notes that James didn't put a razor to his hair, didn't drink any fruit of the vine, and didn't take baths or use oil as a sign of his devotion on top of the fact that he spent so many hours in prayer on his knees they called him camel knees. Considering he wrote a book of the bible and had long hair under the New Covenant... does that mean he was effeminate, gay or rebellious if its a scriptural absolute (sin issue that clearly outlined in explicit scripture in context)? When he met with Paul did the Apostle in Jerusalem.. did Paul tell him to knock off all the silly stuff and get a hair cut "like a man" since its apparent that with a comprimiser James "water wasn't wet" and "fat meat wasn't greasy" (thats in there somewhere right?) when it came to a hippe like the Lords half brother by way of Mary (who cares if he died a martyr with Jesus on his lips... he had long hair)?
Also does that mean we can take Nazarite vows today and still be ok? you want some "old paths" how about pre 70 AD.. is that old enough of a path for you? or did you mean to jump in the Delorean with the good doctor to jump forward in time and consider 1900-1949 to be the more official and convenient "old path"?

Sorry, Bro........let's just click our heels together three times and say "We're not in Kansas anymore". Well, wait a minute. That won't work.

Do you believe everything Eusebius wrote?
I read a translation of his book last year for a history class at my local university translated by Paul Maier. Eusebius relayed a lot of hearsay and traditions that may have had some truth with much embossment added on.

jesus mentions weightier matters of the law.
those are the 1's i am most concerned about
i could care 2 straws on a barn floor about hair
i would stake my salvation on hair being at the bottom of jesus' concern list
but some1 being like jesus is tops on his list

Too many references to the Wizard of Oz lately!

Well, I guess it's time to move on.
The pack has showed up.
