What other way is there to interpret it?

Moses wished all the people of God were prophets ie: filled with the Spirit of God.

OK, dispense with MY interpretation. Let's look at the scritpure. Here it is:

10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

What part of this scriptue do you disagree with?

John the Baptist was also filled with the Holy Ghost, and I'm positive he didn't speak in tongues because he was in utero!

Which begs the question......are tongues an absolute necessity since there are examples of people receiving the Holy Ghost without speaking in tongues?

We are discussing people in two different covenants. Does the Bible say John was baptized with the Holy Spirit?

If they are a necessity why doesn't it happen as it did on the Day of Pentecost?

No. Is there a difference? The Bible says that he was filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother's womb. Being filled and being baptised with the Holy Ghost is the same thing, according to Jesus, who refers to both in the same light.

Luke 1:41

"And it came to pass that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with The Holy Ghost".

How is this different than the Acts infillings?
Well then, this time I guess we will err on the side of scripture.

Ok ... wait ... hold up ... are you suggesting that John the Baptist ... is part of the new covenant ... didn't he die for the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ ... and why then doesn't the thief on the cross fall ... that was saved ....fall under the new covenant???? He died after Jesus did ...

In the OT.before the Day of Pentecost ,The Lord would give people a power or annointing for certain things they were called to do ,people couldn't seek to be Spirit Filled then ,but God would give people an ability for things they were called to. It was a soverign work of God.In Hebrew it's called Shameam it means to rub like an ointment , this is what John The Baptist and Elizabeth and such had.My spelling of the word may be incorrect but the Holy Ghost Baptism like in Acts.2:4 is different from what people prior to Pentecost received.
