Do you believe these people were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ?
Acts 16
14 Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.
15 And when she and her household were baptized,
32 Then they (Paul and Silas) spoke the word of the Lord to him (the jailer) and to all who were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.
Yes, however, we don't have scripture that says anything else. There are examples of people being filled with the Holy Ghost without speaking in tongues, however.

I personally feel that there are very strong personalities here, which isn't much different than anywhere else.
One thing I have noticed, for the most part, no matter how much debate and questioning that goes on everyone is leaving at the end of day believing what they believed when they logged on.
I understand that some people are going to push, vehemently, what they believe as all truth. With this type of poster I just skip over the posts.
I enjoy people like CS coming on and "continuing" to stand where he stands. I love that.
Questions are great. Even when I don't agree with some it still causes me to dig deeper. I love that.
We are discussing people in two different covenants. Does the Bible say John was baptized with the Holy Spirit?
Terms like the Spirit filling, or coming upon, or being in people are used in the OT and also in the NT. However, (to the best of my knowledge) an experience in the Spirit compared to being dipped or self-immersing in water was first mentioned by John the Baptizer (Matthew 3:11) and was also used by Jesus (Acts 1:5). This experience is called a baptism of (or more properly in) the Holy Spirit. We some times refer to the experience as the HGB (Holy Ghost Baptism).

But's here the deal what is the difference in receiving ,being baptized filled with The Holy Ghost after Calvary ?
If the disciples were a -ok why did they have tarry in the upper room before they could even preach or teach in NT. church ?
The classic (trinity and some oneness) Pentecostal answer is that they were saved or born again before Pentecost but the experience of Pentecost was a clothing with power or an endowment of power or a special anointing to do the work of God.

But in the other accounts in the book of Acts ,where people were Spirit filled did you ever read where cloven tongues rested on anyone's head?
The Bible says that a sound from Heaven came as a mighty rushing wind ,as in Acts 2:2 do you ever find that happening in the Bible anywhere else ?
HO when you received The Baptism Of The Holy Ghost did you speak in a tongue that did not know ?,you did what they did in ACTS.2:4
On Pentecost there were
wind
tongues of fire
speaking with tongues/languages
In Acts 10 the only recorded phenomena was speaking with tongues/languages but Peter equated the experience of Cornelius with his own experience at Pentecost (Acts 11:15-17).

But did not Jesus say to his disciples I will be with you even in you ? I'll have to find that scripture.
John 14:15-18 Jesus spoke about the Comforter. He said, "you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you," and then continued, "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you." He also describe the coming of the Holy Spirit as "...My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our home with him..." John 14:23. In my opinion, that means that when a person has the Holy Spirit living in him, he also has the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of Christ in him --not three Spirits but just one Spirit because God is Spirit. That's why I can say that Jesus lives in my heart as the Holy Spirit.
