Landy Gardner
Was shocked to read this morning that Landy Gardner passed...no details at this time. Praying for his family.

Re: Landy Gardner
Guess no one was as shocked by this as I was...or no one cares. Anyway, for those who know who he was, I read that the cancer returned.
He was a very talented man. I am guessing the funeral will be at Christ Church. Maybe CC1 can find out more details...

Re: Landy Gardner
Below is the content of an email I received from Christ Church Nashville today:
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
Landy Gardner founded the Christ Church Choir forty years ago and pioneered a new sound for church choirs that has resounded throughout America and the nations. Countless choir members, worship leaders, pastors, and music lovers have been forever touched by his enthusiastic directing, his powerful arrangements, his elegant design, and his beautiful aesthetic.
As a church, we join in grief, celebration, and prayer with his beloved wife, Joy, his devoted daughters, grandson, and sons-in-law, Dionne, Lauren, Dyson, Scott, and Stephen—along with family and friends around the world.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, November 3 from 5 - 8pm in the Christ Church Atrium. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4 at 1pm in the Christ Church Sanctuary.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Thank you, CC1...do you know if they will stream the service? I didn't know him at all...just knew of him through the music and Rambo/McGuire connection.
I guess the thing that resonated with me is the return of cancer. I have been 4 years in remission, yet there is not a day that I don't have that lingering thought that, as it has with so many others, it pops up again.
Anyway...

Re: Landy Gardner
Barb, sorry I just saw this. I did not know if they were going to stream the service but they did. I wanted to go to it but was sick today and did not. I forgot to check if they were sreaming it then saw a FB post that they did but by that time it was too late. I am hoping they archived it and it will show up on the CC website in a day or two. I talked to someone who did watch it and they said it was extremely moving. His daughters spoke and it was really good they said. The building was full (over 2,000 people) and ovder 500 people watched the livestream. Landy touched a lot of lives in the 30+ years he was the choir director at Christ Church.
