Books that Inspire

Other than the Bible, what book has helped shape and inspire you in to what you are right now? It can be a book by any author and genre.

I credit the works of Watchman Nee, David K. Bernard, Frank Peretti, C. S. Lewis, just to name a very few.

Re: Books that Inspire

When I was a teenager, one book that really helped to shape my life was "Hinds Feet On High Places" by Hannah Hurnard. Recently, I've been reading some of Catherine Marshall's writings, Francis Chan, Watchman Nee, Oswald Chambers (My Utmost for his Highest devotional), among others.

My daughter just recently read "Jesus Freaks" by the Voice of the Martyrs, and I am amazed at the transformation in her life since she has read that book. I am reading it now. It is very similar to Fox's Book of Martyr's yet in modern settings.

But by far, the Bible is the book that transforms me more than any other writing. I love the Word. It satisfies me, challenges me and changes me like no other writing can. I enjoy reading other writings about the Word, but coming back to the Word is like a fresh drink of water, and the rest of the writings I read are just water substitutes.

Nothing satisfies like a cold fresh drink of water, and that is what the Word is to me.

Joy Haney, John Bevere, all of Tom Barnes the ones he wrote and the ones about him, God's General, but can't recall who wrote that one right off.

Deborah Randall and many others, I love to read.
