Good night Yankees Stadium, Baseball's Mecca

I am honestly choked up watching the Yankees play the Orioles, the last game ever to be played in Yankees stadium. Mariano ivera just took the mound, and my beloved Yankees are winning. I am also crushed they are not in the playoffs.

I have to say that the Lord blessed me with an opportunity to watch a game in the same year the Yanks won the series a few years back.

Walking through memorial park in left center field was almost a religious experience.

Oh what I would do for a chunk of the place to pass down to my grand children...

Good night dear Yankee Stadium...

Re: Good night Yankees Stadium, Baseball's Mecca

Nothing like it in sports ... especially sitting w/ the bleacher creatures in right field.

So much of my life as a New Yorker and growing up is tied to baseball ... the Yankees ... the Bronx ....countless conversations w/ dad .... who grew up loving Mantle ...

family outings to the stadium ....

The second to last time I was at the stadium was w/ dad ... for my birthday ... tickets I secured from the ob/gyn while my son was coming into the world ...

Dad and I had such a great time ... just awesome.

And what can I say about 1996 ... after growing up in the 80's during our pennant drought ....

My only regret is not to see Mattingly get a ring ...

What can I say about Jeter ... !!!!!???? We did Bernie wrong ...

Mariano ... is a legend beyond words.

.... nothing could have been more satisfying than the subway series in 2000.

Yankees overtake the Mets .... Sojo's single ... wins it.

Even skipped a day of work for the ticker tape parade .... one year.

Can't wait to visit the new stadium.
