Vatican Dress Code

"Strict dress codes are especially adhered to at St. Peter's, so I wouldn't even try to enter wearing short skirts, shorts, or sleeveless tops. You will be refused entrance. Again, no shorts, or sleeveless tops, but it’s okay to wear jeans. In case you haven't been foresighted enough to carry additional apparel with you and you happen to be at the Vatican wearing inappropriate clothes you can still buy disposable pants and/or t-shirts and scarves on sale in the souvenir shops just outside St. Peter's. In addition to all of this keep in mind that during your visit to the Vatican you'll be in a sovereign country regulated by it's own rules, where the laws of Italy or your own country do not apply! No smoking anywhere in the Vatican!"

Does anyone find it interesting that Catholics and vistors DO NOT seem to have a problem with complying with Catholic dress code in the Vatican, but Apostolics seem to question ALL dress standards?

Is the Vatican demanding that people adhere to its dresscode all the time and telling people they will go to Hell if they don't? NEXT!

Not at all. They are not being told to dress that way to obtain/maintain salvation. This is similar to the comparison that many in my profession are expected to wear certain attire and the courts actually insist upon it. I am free to go or not go my eternal salvation is not dependant upon it.

Do these rules apply to life outside of their "holy" buildings and grounds? No. Are they telling people what they can or cannot wear outside of the facilities? No. Are they dictating these rules into the lives of people in the privacy of their homes and lives? no. Are they telling them what to wear to work? No. What to wear when they are shopping? No. What to wear to bed? No. Are they telling them what they can or cannot bring into and do in the privacy of their homes? No...

Must I go on...comparing the two is ludicrous....

These rules apply while being in the midst of "the holy one." How much more respectful should you dress, knowing God almighty lives in you? Catholics do it when entering the temple because they believe God dwells within that temple. You ought to do it every day knowing you're a temple of the living God.

I guess catholics have a better understanding than certain apostolics.

Baloney! People as a whole on AFF do have a problem with it, even if it is not salvic.

Please see the previous thread titled "Women in Pants refused Church entrance." This church did the same thing as the Vatican. Just read the AFF replies.

Here is the thread starter,

A local apostolic church has decided that they will be putting a sign on their church door that says that women in pants are not allowed to enter their sanctuary. They will offer them clothing, but will not allow them to enter in pants. This also includes small children.

I have concerns about the person walking off of the street who knows nothing about church at all or the perhaps the drug addict or the prostitute that has come to the end of their rope and is sincerely looking for Jesus. Do we risk offending them and losing their souls because of this rule?

What about the person that is truly offended and knows about church but not the apostolic doctrine? Their soul is at stake as well.

What do you think about this?

I am not sure that this is the best practice, and in my opinion this step should be taken with caution, and thought.

I know that people are very serious about their convictions, but could this possibly be going a bit too far? Your opinions please."

This is not the obvious premise you started this thread on...if this was your intent and you wanted the dialog to pertain to standards while "at church"...then you should have made that clear or better yet...put your original post in this thread in the other thread to begin with....

True it is not the premise. But I had to go there to contend for the fact that it seems to me that many Apostolics have an issue with dress, when the Catholics do not. So the question is, WHY?

Is it rebellion? Is it the fact that so many have been church hurt over stupidity connected with dress? (like some church mothers whipping out a ruler and measuring length). It it because of false doctrines like "magic hair." Is it a desire to be more like other churches?

That is the premise of the thread.

You are assuming that no one complains about the dress code to enter the church there, they do just stand outside and listen.
