Palin on Paul Revere
Palin doesn't know her history. While in Boston, she tells a local media station that Paul Revere was warning the British that they weren't going to take our arms away when in reality Revere was warning the colonists that the British were coming. Palin supporters then try to change wikilpedia to reflect Palin's version. When asked about the situation by Fox, Palin blames the media for a gotcha question. The reality is she didn't know and a cloistered upbringing in Alaska is nothing near the cosmopolitan views we need in a leader. Palin does not have a broad enough education to be President. video included in article

Re: Palin on Paul Revere
Fact checking, DM?
Quote:
You know how Sarah Palin said Paul Revere warned the British? Well, he did. Now, who looks stupid?
That the Republican non-candidate, in fact, knew more about the actual facts of Revere's midnight ride than all those idiots unknowingly revealing their own ignorance by laughing at her faux faux pas? How secretly embarrassing this must be, to be forced to face that you're dumber than the reputed dummy.
The well-known fable is Revere's late-night ride to warn fellow revolutionaries that....
...the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening's events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American Revolution's inevitable victory.
Palin knew this. The on-scene reporters did not and ran off like Revere to alert the world to Palin's latest mis-speak, which wasn't.

Re: Palin on Paul Revere
PO, here is a washington Post blog that says she was partly wrong, I still don'tthink she is bright enough to be President, whether or not she is right about Paul Revere. The reason this story has traction is because it is reinforcing her image as a naivete.

It still has traction because her detractors can't pass up a single minute of slamming her, putting her in her place, reminding her she's an imbicle.
All the while this country is going over a cliff, morally, fiscally and every other way because this present administration won't lift an ideological finger to stop it.

The issue they have been targeting was her saying that Revere warned the British and the Colonists. She was right about that. Chris Wallace said he even had to Google the info and didn't know the correct story on that himself.

The issue I had with her re-telling of the story is 1) there were no bells and there were no shots; and 2) the reason of the ride she said was to warn the british. It was not.
Sure, as has been told over and over now, once the ride was done, Revere was captured and then warned the British.
But it was incorrect for Palin to claim Revere's ride: "[He] who warned uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed."
She misspoke. She made a mistake. It's not a big deal. But to go on FoxNews with Chris Matthews and whine about it being a "gotcha" question is ridiculous. She was visiting Revere's home and the church for crying out loud ... how does asking a question about the ride while standing at the historical site qualify as a "gotcha" question.
I think Palin's definition of a "gotcha" question, is any question she answers badly. It's never her fault ... never. It's always the media or reporters fault.
I don't hate the woman, but I'm not drinking her kool-aide.

And Longfellow distorted a bit of history cutting out a couple of other riders and only focusing on Revere.
And Obama says, ""Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states?"
My point of view on the issue is this - I am not against Sarah Palin. What I am offended about is that we don't have strong men who could be capable and willing to serve this country in honesty and in integrity. Why do we need women vying for that top job?
The only person I remotely have confidence in, at this point, is Paul Ryan.

Congressman LTC. Allen West (22nd district Florida R) is as fine a man to serve this nation that I've ever seen.
Grant it, I don't know everything about him, but all the left smear machine can come up with is a gimmick to infiltrate his town hall meetings and start screaming.
If he ever runs for POTUS and gets elected, America just might survive after all!
